P6 Chinese test papers

P6 Chinese past papers help your child review for the PSLE. At the final year of primary school, your child is expected to read and understand longer passages, write compositions, and respond to oral stimuli. These papers come from a range of school assessments across recent years and give a sense of the question styles your child may encounter. This page gathers them in one place so you can find practice material without searching through multiple sources. The archive covers many school-based tests from Primary 6 Chinese, including weighted assessments and examinations. [CITE: subject-syllabus] The collection may not reflect the latest MOE changes for the current cohort. [CITE: weighted-assessment]

USING THESE PAPERS

How to work through P6 Chinese papers

Start by having your child attempt one complete paper in exam-like conditions – set a timer and avoid interruptions. This gives you a baseline. When marking, focus on patterns: are the mistakes in comprehension cloze, composition structure, or oral interaction? For each error, ask your child to explain their thinking. This often reveals whether the problem is vocabulary, grammar, or reading speed. Do not correct every mistake immediately. Instead, group similar errors and work on one type each session. For composition, compare your child's work with the model answers – note how the opening catches attention and how paragraphs link. For oral practice, read the stimulus passages aloud together and discuss possible responses. The goal is not to finish all 538 papers but to use a handful smartly. A parent's best role is to spot which skill needs the most attention and find targeted pages in the archive. [CITE: psle-format]

COMMON QUESTIONS

P6 Chinese questions

Should my child practise all the past papers from different schools?

No, quality matters more than quantity. Pick one or two schools' papers per session and focus on understanding mistakes. Working through five papers carefully with corrections is more effective than rushing through 20. Use the papers to identify weak areas, then drill those skills separately.

Do these papers follow the current PSLE Chinese format?

Some may use an older format. Recent changes to weighted assessments and exam structure[ CITE: psle-format] mean not every paper exactly mirrors the current PSLE. Use them as practice for content and vocabulary, but check with your child's school for today's exact format.

How can I help my child if my own Chinese is weak?

Focus on process, not content. You can still time the paper, check that answers are written neatly, and discuss which questions felt hard. For language-specific help, use answer keys or ask your child's teacher. The effort of practising regularly matters more than perfect correction.

My child is scoring low – should I worry?

Low scores on practice papers are useful feedback, not a final judgment. Look at what types of questions cause the most trouble. Is it vocabulary in comprehension, or composition structure? Use the papers to guide your revision plan. Consistent, targeted practice over months makes a difference. [CITE: weighted-assessment]
