If the estimate is from practice papers
Open the PSLE preparation pathway and separate content repair from timed rehearsal. Review several pieces of work before changing the whole revision plan.
Enter four estimated marks or four known grades. The calculator converts each subject to its Achievement Level, adds the four contributions and explains what the result can and cannot tell you.
Use marks for a school or practice-paper estimate. Use known grades when the result slip already shows ALs. If you are unsure how a mark becomes an AL, read the separate PSLE scoring-band explainer before interpreting the total.
You will see the displayed grade, the score contribution, the total and a careful next-step explanation.
Each Standard subject mark falls into one of eight published bands. The four subject ALs are added. There is no averaging, weighting or comparison with another pupil in this estimate.
A change from 89 to 90 crosses from AL2 to AL1, while a change from 70 to 71 remains inside AL5. This is why a mark estimate near a boundary should be treated as a range, not as a firm prediction.
| Achievement Level | Raw mark range | Contribution |
|---|---|---|
| AL1 | 90 to 100 | 1 |
| AL2 | 85 to 89 | 2 |
| AL3 | 80 to 84 | 3 |
| AL4 | 75 to 79 | 4 |
| AL5 | 65 to 74 | 5 |
| AL6 | 45 to 64 | 6 |
| AL7 | 20 to 44 | 7 |
| AL8 | Below 20 | 8 |
A score can organise information, but it cannot identify the first misconception, choose a suitable school or decide how much practice a child can sustain. Use the breakdown to move from a broad total to one specific action.

Use the P6 resource guide to locate a teachable gap. A subject AL does not show whether the problem is knowledge, method, language, timing or correction.
Put the selected repair work into the weekly study planner. Protect sleep, school commitments, marking time and a recovery buffer instead of filling every available evening.
The result is an arithmetic estimate, not an official PSLE result and not an admission offer. Preliminary or practice marks can differ from a national-examination result. School score ranges describe earlier posting exercises and the next exercise depends on that cohort's results and choices.
Posting Group context is shown only as a broad orientation. Individual circumstances, subject results and current MOE rules still matter. Before selecting schools, study the wider transition to secondary school, then verify live school information with MOE SchoolFinder.
Yes. AL1 is the strongest subject grade, so four AL1 grades add to 4. Four AL8 grades add to 32. The calculator labels both ends because this direction is easy to reverse by mistake.
You can use them for a rough planning estimate, but school papers differ in coverage and difficulty. Compare more than one assessment and do not present the converted total as a predicted official result.
A Foundation grade A contributes 6, B contributes 7 and C contributes 8 for the total. In mark mode, 75 to 100 becomes A, 30 to 74 becomes B and below 30 becomes C.
Higher Mother Tongue is not added as a fifth contribution to the ordinary four-subject PSLE Score. It can matter in other eligibility or posting contexts, so check current official guidance for the decision being made.
