Are P2 Chinese exams still held?
Recent MOE changes mean some primary levels no longer sit formal examinations. As policies vary by school and cohort, verify your child's school schedule directly or check the MOE website [CITE: subject-syllabus].
Primary 2 Chinese assessments evaluate listening, speaking, reading and writing at a foundational level. The syllabus covers character recognition, sentence construction and basic comprehension [CITE: subject-syllabus]. This page helps parents and students find past examination papers for revision. You can use these materials to familiarise your child with question formats and to identify areas that need more practice. The archive includes papers from a range of primary schools across Singapore, offering broad exposure to different styles of assessment.
Start by having your child attempt one complete past paper in a quiet, timed setting. This builds familiarity with the test structure and pace. After marking, focus on the mistakes together – do not just correct them; talk through why the error occurred. For Chinese, pay special attention to character writing accuracy and sentence structure. Revisit weak areas with targeted exercises from textbooks or worksheets before trying the next paper. A good sequence is CA1, then SA1, then CA2, then SA2, but any order works as long as you space the attempts. Parents should look at patterns across papers: if your child consistently loses marks on comprehension, devote more time to reading short passages aloud. Always celebrate improvement in scores or speed, not just final marks.

Quality over quantity. Doing one or two full papers per term, with thorough review of mistakes, is more effective than rushing through ten. Use the papers to identify weak spots, then practise those skills separately.
CA stands for Continual Assessment and SA for Semestral Assessment. These are typical school assessment rounds. Not all schools use the same names or weightings, but the papers give a realistic idea of question types and difficulty.
The archive contains papers from about 34 different schools. While some schools like Henry Park and Rosyth appear more often, it is not guaranteed every school is represented. Using papers from various schools still provides excellent practice.
