Which subject to work on first
A level page is a starting point, not a reading order. The subject worth opening first is usually the one where recent schoolwork shows the same kind of error repeating, rather than the one with the most papers behind it. A large set is a sign of what was collected, not of what a particular learner needs.
Each subject below shows how many papers are held, the years they span, and how many schools contributed. Those three numbers together are more useful than the paper count alone: a set of two hundred papers from one school across two years covers far less ground than eighty papers from twenty schools across a decade, because the second set shows a topic asked in more than one voice.
Match the round, not just the subject
A continual assessment covers recent teaching; an end-of-semester paper covers the whole term. Practising the wrong one produces a discouraging score that says nothing useful. The subject pages list which rounds are actually held.
Work backwards from the recent years
Older papers are useful for topic coverage, but phrasing and format drift over two decades. Starting with the most recent years keeps practice closest to what a learner will actually sit.
A thin set is a gap, not a verdict
Some subjects at this level hold only a handful of papers. That reflects what was collected and what schools released, and says nothing about how the subject is taught or examined.
