As parents, at some point, you would have introduced rewards to your child – play time, cookie, an excursion or even overseas holiday. In Singapore, Ministry of Education (MOE) awards students Scholarships and Bursaries, not only to students who achieve outstanding academic results but also students who showed outstanding personal qualities.
In this article, we have summarised what is up for your child to work towards this year, for primary, secondary and pre-university levels. Hope this will be a good incentive for your child to put in his/her best performance!
1. Edusave scholarships for government and government-aided schools
Eligibility: Top 10% of their level and course in terms of academic performance, with good conduct.
Value: $350 for Primary 5 to 6, $500 for Secondary Schools.
2. Edusave Merit Bursary
Eligibility: P1/2 students who have consistently demonstrated learning dispositions throughout the academic year and exhibit good conduct. For all other levels, students who are in the top 25% of his/her level, with a monthly household income not exceeding $6,000 (or per capita income does not exceed $1,500). Students must not be recipients of any other Edusave scholarships and bursaries.
Value: $200 for Lower Primary, $250 for Upper Primary, $350 for Secondary, $400 for Pre-Uni.
3. Edusave Good Progress Award
Eligibility: P2/3 students who have shown the greatest improvement in learning disposition throughout the academic year with good conduct. For all other levels, students who are in the top 10% of his/her level and not recipients of the earlier two awards.
Value: $100 for Primary 2 & 3, $150 for Upper Primary, $200 for Secondary, $250 for Pre-Uni.
1. Edusave Character Award
Eligibility: Demonstrated exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions.
Value: $200 for Lower Primary, $350 for Upper Primary, $500 for Secondary and Pre-Uni.
2. Edusave Awards for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES)
Eligibility: Demonstrated leadership qualities, service to community and schools, excellence in non-academic activities, and demonstrated good conduct.
Value: $250 for Upper Primary, $350 for Secondary, $400 for Pre-Uni.
